Customs Tax, Duties
and Restrictions
to Canada

Restricted items are goods which may require additional permits, licenses, or meet special conditions before clearing customs in Canada.

Common restricted items include:

- Alcoholic beverages (must meet import quantity regulations)

- Cosmetics (must comply with Health Canada regulations)

- Radio transmitters and wireless devices

- Plants, seeds, or soil (subject to CFIA approval)

- Items over CAD $20 declared value (subject to tax review)

Always check the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) before shipping.

Prohibited items cannot be imported into Canada under any condition.

These include:

- Narcotics and illegal drugs

- Weapons, firearms, and explosives

- Counterfeit goods

- Hate propaganda or obscene material

- Used mattresses without proper certification

- Hazardous waste or radioactive materials

- Currency or monetary instruments over CAD $10,000 (requires declaration)
